Nine Days Celebration Of Gupt Navratri

We worship Hindu Deities with devotion throughout the year to get the grace of Mother Shakti. In order to express one’s special gratitude to the mother, twice a year, nine forms of the mother are especially worshipped in Chaitra and Shardiya Navratri. But apart from this, the festival of Navratri is also celebrated in the month of Magh and Ashadha. Navratri falls in the month of Magha and Ashadha is known as Gupt Navratri. Nine Forms Of Maa Durga

Devotees dedicate nine days to all different forms of Maa Durga. They worship the Goddess with sincere prayers and organizing puja. First day of Navratri ( Thursday, Jun 30, 2022) - Maa Shailaputri

The first day is dedicated to Goddess Shailputri and we organize Ghatasthapana on this day. The goddess was born to the famous king named Daksha Prajapti. Young Shailputri had a one wish to marry Lord Shiva. Therefore, she did severe penance to impress the Lord. On the other hand, the king was disappointed by her wish. When the king organized the Yagna without inviting Lord Shiva, Maa Shailputri sacrificed her life by jumping into the Yagna.

Second Day of Navratri (Friday, Jul 01, 2022 ) - Maa Brahmacharini

Maa Brahmacharini is worshipped on the second day of Gupt Navratri. When she was doing hard penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband, Durga acquired immense purity and chastity and Hence, she came to be known as Brahmacharini.

Third Day Of Navratri (Saturday, Jul 02, 2022 ) - Maa Chandraghanta

This is the fierce form of Durga, who holds eight weapons in her ten hands. As the Goddess is riding on a lion, she is also known as ‘Dharma’ and is known as Chandraghanta.

Fourth Day Of Navratri (Sunday, Jul 03, 2022) - Maa Kushmanda

Maa Kushmanda is the incarnation of the Maa Shakti who is worshipped on the fourth day of Navratri. The Goddess is known for creating the entire universe and she resides in the middle of the Sun.

Fifth Day Of Navratri (Monday, Jul 04, 2022) - Maa Skandmata

Maa Skandmata is the mother of Kartikeya, who is seated on a lion. The goddess is seen carrying Kartikeya in her lap. Thus, she is called Skandamata.

Sixth Day Of Navratri (Tuesday, July 05, 2022) - Maa Katyayani

This form of Goddess Shakti is worshipped on the sixth day of Ashadha Gupta Navratri. This form of Maa Durga originated to kill the demon named Mahishasura. She defeated the cruel demon and became Maa Katyayani.

Seventh Day Of Navratri (Wednesday, Jul 06, 2022 ) -Maa Kalratri

This is one of the fiercest forms of Maa Durga, which is remembered by her devotees on the seventh day of Navratri. Goddess rides on a donkey and she has four arms, three eyes and an open mouth. Maa Kalratri blesses her devotees with fearlessness and freedom from all sufferings and punishes devils and negative forces.

Eighth Day Of Navratri (Thursday, Jul 07, 2022 ) - Maa Mahagauri

Maa Mahagauri is worshipped on the eighth day of Navratri. She pleased Lord Shiva by serving penance but her body was covered with dust. So, Lord Shiva poured Ganga water on her and she appeared in the bright form. Hence, the goddess is known as Maa Mahagauri.

Ninth Day of Navratri (Friday, Jul 08, 2022) - Maa Siddhidatri

Goddess Siddhidatri is worshipped on the ninth and last day of Navratri. Her name itself reflects his importance. ‘Siddhi’ means supernatural powers’ and ‘datri’ means giving. The goddess is the provider of both and she is known for fulfilling the devotee’s wishes. Thus, we worship Maa Siddhidatri on the last day.

Gupt Navratri Rituals and 10 Mahavidyas

Ashadh Gupta Navratri is quite similar to the Chaitra and Shardiya Navratri. On the first day of Ashadh Gupta Navratri, the devotees vow to fast for nine days. They begin with Ghatasthapana. Second Mahavidya - Tara

Mother Tara has a special place in Tibet. She is worshipped as Green Tara, White Tara or Neel Tara. One should recite the below-stated mantra.

Third Mahavidya - Tripura Sundari

Fourth Mahavidya - Bhuvaneshwari

Mata Bhuvaneshwari is also known as Shatakshi and Shakambhari. Maa Bhuvaneshwari’s sadhana is very fruitful for couples who want to have children. With the blessings of the fourth Mahavidya Bhuvaneshwari, one gets glory like the sun and respect in life. Recite this mantra while invoking Goddess.

Fifth Mahavidya - Chhinnamasta

The philosophy of Mata Chhinnamasta depends on the method of worshipping. If the sadhana of Mata Chhinmasta is done with a calm mind, then you attain peace. Otherwise, if you may see, the fierce form of the mother is seen. The form of Chhinnamasta is adorned with a severed head and three streams of flowing blood. Keep the below mantra in your prayers.

Sixth Mahavidya - Tripura Bhairavi

Seventh Mahavidya - Dhumavati

Eighth Mahavidya - Baglamukhi

Ninth Mahavidya - Matangi

Tenth Mahavidya - Kamala
